With a few inches of snow forecast and a little light stuff already coming down, I wandered back out among possible Stone Prayers this past Saturday afternoon, in a hollow near Richmond, Vermont.
While the hiking spot’s parking area was nearly full upon arrival, I didn’t see another soul during my visit, enjoying an apparently solitary outing contemplating the potentially sacred space. But it wasn’t silent; the rush of wind above the gurgling flow of nearby brooks accompanied my crunching footsteps in the icy undergrowth.

The dusting of snow gave the stone features’ outlines interesting, maybe even sharper than usual, definition, as you can see in the photos and videos. Speaking of video… I’d just made an “Experiencing…” video on this site, released a month ago, and had pretty much covered what I had to say about the site in that presentation. So I decided to just go with the natural sound for the official presentation, this time — no narration, no music, just a walk in the woods.
Curiously enough, the parking area was nearly empty when I returned to my car to head home.
If interested, here’s the “Experiencing…” video:
And keep your eyes open for some exclusive-to-this-publication bonus coverage of this excursion in the snow, with footage and photos of other features around the hollow not seen previously in the snowy YouTube video or in Facebook photo posts, with some content saved special for paid subscribers as a thank you for your support.
