Raw Video: Greeting or Directional Stone in Jericho, Vermont

Exclusive Extra Footage for Ancient Stone Mysteries Substack Newsletter Subscribers

When editing together my latest feature-length video presentation, Experiencing Subtle Stone Structures, Possible Effigies, and "Twin" Stone Assemblages Revisited in Jericho, Vermont, the title wasn’t the only thing getting overly long. The presentation looked like it was going to be at least an hour’s length, and that was including only material I considered “must see”. Kind of a good problem to have.

Because it didn’t feel like the main video presentation should be too much longer than an hour, there’s a little leftover footage which hasn’t yet seen the light of day. Some of it is intriguing in its own right, even if it didn’t fit into the narrative flow of the main video. And some of it features stonework seen in past videos — new sights were prioritized. Exclusion, in these cases, doesn’t say anything about how interesting they might be.

That’s the case with this stone. Or, these stones, there is another next to the one I believe to be of significance. We see it briefly. They have been in one of the other videos I’ve made about this area.

Stones of Significance? Photo by Mike Luoma.

The Greeting, or Directional (or even Pointing) Stone, the apparently significant one, also appears to be perched upon the stone beneath it. Whether you believe Indigenous people of the region would have shaped this stone to any degree, or may have simply chosen it for it’s shape, it looks to have been chosen and placed to guide one towards the possible Stone Prayers and Impressive Glacial Erratics present in the hollows up ahead.

Take a look at the raw video and judge for yourself.
